Excel Automation using PERL Can't Post

I need to extract data from a spreadsheet on a unix machine. Is there someway I can do this using PERL?

Check out http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q214/7/97.asp -- this provides a simple example of working with Excel

Access to Excel depends (for practical purposes) on using Win32::OLE, which only runs on Win32. If you're on a Unix box, you're out of luck unless someone knows of a way to work with Excel files at a binary level.
