How well does Perl work on .NET? What I need to do is to make some programs that will communicate with the .NET for a 3D design software. The normal way woud be to use for example Microsoft Visual Studio and code with C++, C# or VB, but not knowing much about those languages or .NET I feel like using Perl might be an easier way, but it it really possible and worth getting into? ActiveState are offering a "Perl Dev Kit" where they promise have something called PerlNET that according to them: "Allow .NET code to call Perl code, and implement .NET classes in Perl" Are there any other way to use Perl for .NET than to buy the Perl Dev Kit, and if not then is the Perl Dev Kit good and useful?
