smoth picture changing

I have currently design a web page with 3 frames, top, middle, and bottom. In the middle frame i have a timed picture, so after 10 seconds it changes to the next picture. What i want to do is while the time is counting down for the first picture the next picture will be loading. At the mmoment it loads quick but the click over to the next picture looks really jumpy and i want it to appear like a slide show. Is there a script that can do this, if so where can i find it.
