Perl scripts broken following CGI cpan install? Can't Post

I'm new to this forum. Hopefully I'll be answering questions in the future, but for now I'll be mostly asking them.

I've been playing around with various Perl scripts and cpan mod installations, but all Perl scripts have stopped working following an install of CGI through cpan (cpan> install CGI).

Any ideas what might have happened here? I seem to be going around in circles.

You must be using an old version of perl. The CGI module has been part of the core since at least 5.8.8 (Jan 2006). What version are you using?

Simply installing the CGI module would not have caused all other scripts to stop working. You must have done something else at/near that same time.
