Question about ActivePerl
|
Can't Post

This may sound like a stupid question, but I have to ask. Just what is this ActivePerl? I've been writing/modifying perl scripts for my web sites off and on for a few years now, and I've seen this name thrown around a bit lately. From what I gather, it is part of the puzzle that would allow me to run scripts on my home machine before uploading them to my server. Is that correct? If so, where do I get it and what else is needed to do this? I would love to be able to develop "offline" and then upload. A while back I installed perl on a win95 machine and was able to run command line stuff, but not through a browser. I suppose the reason for this was the lack of a server. But now I am running NT 4 and to the best of my knowledge, the only server I have is ATG Dynamo but I really cant play with its configuation (too much) because it is set up for work. I guess I would need to install another server if that is possible. If anyone has info they can pass on to a semi-newbie, that would be great. Thanks (in advance) Monocle
