what $?>>8 means? Can't Post

from some perl code, i saw this $?>>8
$? i know is return the result from last system call, but what >>8 means?? is it other number refer to other meaning?

It's the right shift operator. See perldoc perlop.

The exit code of the executed command is stored in the left half of the 16 bit value of $?.
