tension Novice Aug 28, 2012, 1:34 PM Post #1 of 5 (641 views) Going Crazy - Beginner - Win - Padre - Strawberry Can't Post Hi I am trying to learn perl on my windows machine at the moment. Later on I will be converting to a linux machine and will be running some specific stuff on there. My problem is that my padre install has stopped working and I cannot get it to work anymore no matter what. It was working previously. I wrote 5 or 6 programs along with my Learning Perl book and they executed. I have since tried reinstalling padre, strawberry perl, etc. everything I can imagine. In padre, When I write a program and click run it asks me to save then it does -nothing-. When I ask it to 'go to command window' it crashes. Somehow padre is not linked to my perl install. HOW DO I RUN A FILE USING PERL? OMG! Even if you could just tell me how to run a file from the windows or perl command line that would be fine. Please dont assume that I know anything when explaining this as I find it is the little details that are often creating my problems.

I then hit the "open example" button. I then hit run program. -nothing- I think it has something to do with the shebang line #!/usr/bin/perl but I have no idea what to do.

tension Novice Aug 28, 2012, 2:26 PM Post #4 of 5 (631 views) Re: [tension] Going Crazy - Beginner - Win - Padre - Strawberry [In reply to] Can't Post OK so I go into windows command prompt I change directory to the padre example problems cd c:\dwimperl\perl\site\lib\auto\...\absolute_beginner the directory changes just fine I then enter the beginner program that came with my padre download 01_Hello_world.pl <enter> It then opens up the file in padre (sigh). I hit run in padre and it does nothing. How do I run the file in perl???????????????

Does anyone know why Padre will not run the files for me though? Thanks. Sorry for so many replies :)
