Appraising Oil Paintings: An Expert Shares Tips On Buying Art Can't Post

The Spring Creek Artisans will kick off the holiday season with Christmas Fest 2012 Friday and Saturday at the Bonebrake Center of Nature and History, 601 North Hickory St. Carol Broyles began painting in 1988 after attending some classes in Republic. Her first painting was a landscape, but she admits her skills have improved since her first painting. She makes her own pattern by first pencil-sketching what she is painting.Famous Oil Paintings¡°I most enjoy doing portraits, realistic pictures. Portraits are more rewarding to paint,¡± Broyles said. ¡°It is good therapy and relaxing.¡±Her paintings are done from her interpretation of photos she uses as her model. Broyles was among the original members of the Artisans group more than two decades ago. Then she put her painting hobby on hold for a few years. Now she is back at it and enjoying it more than ever. She also does paintings on consignment.
