check data in mysql Can't Post

Hi, I just would like to write a perl script , this perl script do the following .

Check the parameter $data in a mysql database ( with user ID and password ) , if the $data is exist then return true , if

not then return false , would advise how to write this script ? thanks

You need to use the DBI module, together with the DBD::mysql database driver. Check the CPAN documentation for these two modules, there are plenty of examples that you can just mimick to connect to the base and run some queries.
