Can't install Mail::SendEasy via cpanm Can't Post

Perl 5.8.8 on Linux RHEL 5.5.56.

I'm trying to install Mail::SendEasy since I can't get Mail::Sender to work, and cpanm hangs with the message "Building and testing Mail-Sendeasy 1.2". I couldn't reach search.cpan.org with my browser yesterday, so I figured it was related to that as I was having the same problem yesterday. Now I can reach search.cpan.org with my browser and I'm still having problems installing Mail::SendEasy.

Code
[foo@bar Mail]# cpanm Mail::SendEasy
--> Working on Mail::SendEasy
Fetching http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/G/GM/GMPASSOS/Mail-SendEasy-1.2.tar.gz ... OK
Configuring Mail-SendEasy-1.2 ... OK
Building and testing Mail-SendEasy-1.2 ...

I just installed CPAN::Mini, so maybe the file for Mail::SendEasy 1.2 is corrupt. Can someone confirm?

Is anyone else having problems installing any module, or this module?

Mail::Sender works in run mode but not in debug mode. Running it in debug mode is critical...for debugging. If anyone has a test program that works with auth and sending a XLS attachment, I'd be very grateful. I only need to send a simple email with a binary attachment. I don't need to manipulate MIME parts or anything like that.

And where are the logs for cpanm? I log in as su to run cpanm, and our home dirs are in /export/home, but we don't have a home dir for root.

Thanks.

Did the installation work but it got hung up? Or is this install incomplete?

Thank you!

Mail::Sender is the only package I could find that supports auth and attachments, and doesn't need an MTA. Do you recommend another package? I don't have an MTA on my system and I don't want to set one up. After reading the docs, and since I've never set up an MTA, it sounds painful.
