Script to email if query successful Can't Post

I am trying to automate some tasks for one of my business users and I need to figure out how to write a perl script that will run some queries (they return a count that is based off the results of another query- this part is written in oracle). Once the first set of queries are run (and the counts emailed off) it needs to run a set of 5 other queries that are simple checks. These check queries should not return any rows but if they do an email alert needs to be sent with the query in question in the body of said email then continue on with the other queries. If none of the check queries return any rows an email still needs to be sent telling of that result.

I have never done any scripting in perl as I am a database designer for the most part so I would appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Re: [zcurtin608] Script to email if query successful [In reply to] Can't Post

I did some shell scripting today and now the only part I am stuck on for the above request is the part where I only send out an email if a SQL statement returns rows. If the SQL statement doesnt return any rows I have to send out another statement instead.

Once this is written I can just call the script from within the shell script I wrote.

Any help would be amazing. Angelic
