Encoding issue on Perl Can't Post

Hi,
I have a quick Q on Perl encoding, I am trying to load data from Excel to DB and using this conversion:

my $converter = Text::Iconv -> new ("utf-8", "windows-1252");
my $excel = Spreadsheet::XLSX -> new ($cap_guid_file, $converter);

Excel Data "UNIVERSITE DE MONTRÉAL L" is getting converted to "UNIVERSITE DE MONTRAL L" in DB.

I tried doing utf-8 to utf-8 OR utf-8 to latin, but no luck. Appreciate any help.

Thanks
Shreekant

Hi,

take a look at the "Unicode and Strings" chapter in this web page http://modernperlbooks.com/books/modern_perl/chapter_03.html#toc_VGhlUGVybExhbmd1YWdl (chapter 3 of Modern Perl, by chromatic. I think tt is explained there much better than I could ever do.
