What's a good module for changing JPG and PNG files? Can't Post

I could search CPAN but that doesn't tell me how often the module is updated or if it actually works or if it's a favorite with people. (Some modules are buggy.)

So I'm just looking to reduce the color depth of images via a Perl program, so I'm looking for a tried and tested module to do just that.

I will have to read the image, reduce the color depth, then write the image.

Thank you.

Hi,

I use the comprehensive ImageMagick library to handle image manipulation, in actual fact my preference is the GraphicsMagick fork of the library. Based on the description of your task, you should be able to use the command line interface directly, but Perl object orientated interfaces are available, Image::Magick, Graphics::Magick.

Regards,

Chris
