question Can't Post

I failed to understand the meaning of the following symbol used:
# $array[$_]=$array[$_+1];
What is the utility of the above # symbol?

Everything between the # symbol and the end of the line is considered a 'comment' It is ignored by perl. It is often used this way to make a temporary change to a program. (You can get the old behavior back by removing the #)
