How to read? Can't Post

Does anyone know how to read only one line from a file. For example, i want to create a script that displays random quotes. I know how to print to a file, and add the quotes, but I dont know how to make a random quote appear and only one line/quote from the file the quotes are written to.

Hey Mate, check the faq, the very last page, there you'll find a faq on how to do just that, if you don't find it just let me know. It's just that Japhy knew the best way to do it and I can't remember off hand.

I have to agree w/ sleuth on this one. I was able to create a random bible verse program that sends a random verse via e-mail using the info found in the faq : How do I select a random line.....
