Write/Post Can't Post

Im trying to pull information from a form field, store it to a text file, and then write that info into a cell on a seperate html page. any ideas??? Thanx alot!!!!!!!

use CGI; 

$q = new CGI;

$UserInput = $q ->('formfieldname');
open(FH ">textfile.txt");
print FH $UserInput;
close(FH);

print "Content-Type: text/html\n\n";
print "<table><tr><td>$UserInput</td></tr></table>";
